Midweek meditation

May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.   2 Corinthians 13:14

What weighs you down? It can be guilt or resentment or anger. Are you dealing with the loss of loved ones, your own health, financial insecurity, or even just lack of peace of mind. Do you struggle with addiction or love someone who does?

I have walked the end of life journey with many people. Some were filled with regrets, some fighting for one last breath. Some were fearful and some resigned. But the ones who touched me the most were those who having faced hardship were able to look back and see the miracle of God’s mighty love and compassion in their life. They knew in their darkest time, God was with them. They often share the same sentiment with close to the same words. They tell me they’ve had a good life and have faith in God’s promise of eternity.

I’ve often wondered why we can’t grasp that clarity for more of our life. Why do we spend so much of our time struggling? God offers us so much and we deny or ignore or doubt way too often.

Grace, love and fellowship are ours for the accepting. Let us commit to keeping that as our guiding light. We don’t need retail therapy, a beer, revenge or to tear someone else down to make ourselves feel better.

We need to know God provides all we need.
