Midweek meditation
But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. John 14:26
Jesus spoke these words of reassurance before his ascension. I believe he realized that his disciples would struggle when he was gone. And he knew that later generations would doubt when they were farther from the visible proof of his divine presence.
We have the words and stories from the Bible for reference but how many of us have hit a point of indecision and not found an answer. We cry out for a sign, a billboard preferably or even a burning bush. We want something concrete and visible to guide us.
Often times we are just looking for justification for what we want to do anyway. Sometimes we are truly overcome with fear and indecision..
How can we see what is righteous in our life? Seek the presence and work of Christ in others. Watch his work being done. Remember that Jesus lives and is working all around us. Have faith that in God’s time. Trust the Spirit will show us what we need and through us the world will know his Truth.
This is not an easy path. Thank God, we never walk alone.
