Meditation and worship update
“Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?” Luke 6:46
These words should be among the hardest to hear for a Christian. All the ways we try to make the commands of Jesus less onerous, all the times we have known better but acted indifferent, all the places in our heart where we know darkness gathers, are laid bare by this question.
Lent begins next week and with it comes the challenge to truly face and change that within us that which does not bring glory to God. Through prayer, fasting and giving to others, we seek to become more like Christ.
We will cover all three of those practices in the upcoming weeks. But they will not be fruitful if we don’t begin with admitting our failures. Let us pray for the courage to face our darkest selves.
Ash Wednesday is on 2/17. We are offering two services: an online service will be available at 10amand an outdoor service at Rouzerville at 6pm(weather/snow covering permitting).
For the online service, please have an extra mask and a black marker available.
The evening service will be around the fire pit. Please bring a slip of paper with your prayer and/or confession written that we will then add to the fire, to let our prayers rise to God.
