PRE-SCHOOL LESSON: Paul Teaches in Athens

Good morning! If you have some building blocks at home, go and get them now please. I’d like you to build something with the blocks. I bet you could make some pretty cool stuff! Send me a picture of what you build…
Do you like the thing you built? *I’m sure I would if I could see it!
Would you ever pray to that thing or talk to it? No we wouldn’t do that!
But long ago, the apostle Paul went to a city called Athens to tell the people about Jesus. He discovered something that made him sad. The people in Athens had built things out of stone, wood, and metal and they were worshiping what they built! They thought the things they made were gods!
Go ahead and take your whatever you built down to show that things we make are not God. Now, go ahead and push the blocks in a nice big pile right in front of you and say, “There’s only one God.”
Paul told the people about the one true God. Take one block and set it in front of you to show there is only one true God. Paul told people to be sorry for doing wrong things. Put a block on top of the first one to show that Paul told them to say they’re sorry. Then Paul told them that Jesus died and then came back to life. They didn’t know that! Put a third block on top of the others. Keep them in a nice straight line.
What shape does your tower make? It makes the number one, which stands for the one true God! Go ahead and clap your hands and thank God for being the one true God! Thank him because he is alive!
It’s time to praise God because he is alive!
• What are some ways we can use our bodies to praise the Lord?
• What are some ways we can use our voices to praise the Lord?
Go ahead and try some of those right now!
Today we’ve been celebrating that God is alive. Snacks are a fun way to celebrate.
If you can, go get some food items to make a yummy snack to tell Jesus that we love him.
• How do you know God is alive?
Have someone from your family send me some of your answers because I’m sure that your answers are great ways to know that God is alive!
Now, turn the things you said into thank-you prayers.
I want you to thank God for something, and then add one topping to your snack. Then thank him again and add something else. You could say, “Thank you, God, for being alive,” “Thank you, God, for helping me,” or “Thank you, God, for loving me.”
Now get out those snacks and begin to create, and be sure to thank God!
Enjoy!
